Local Media and Local Government

Incredibly disappointing result to what I thought would be a well decision to return public notices to the local newspaper. Council voted 6-3 to defeat the Mayor’s report recommending administration return with a plan to add “local newspaper” to our public notice procedure. One assurance we got from staff was public notices would continue to be posted on the bulletin board downstairs at City Hall.

This photo above of said board was taken a few days later. One must ask why it’s blank. If the answer is “We have met the requirements, and took the notices down after the notice period was over and before the next ones go up.” Why is staff time spent on taking them down before the new ones go up? Why not simply wait for the next ones, and do it all in one go?
