What Happens When We Say Yes?
The BCRC recently published my short column, where I challenge my readers to say “Yes” instead of “No.”
Too often, local residents are drawn into campaigns against resource-based development that would benefit us all.
Often we react out of fear, or MIMBY-ism (not in my backyard) without considering the larger impact on our neighbours and friends, or the long-term effect of making it hard for businesses to expand into new markets, develop new products. Possibly the worst outcome of this is the harm to the unity in our communities.
